Living pain free for the most part.Went to disney world for the first time with out a stroller or a wheelchair.He got pretty tired and was only good for short days . But he wanted to walk and that he did . No limp running and playing like normal. He is small so not as strong as a bigger child would be . He is also currently dancing in a hip hop class.

Recast is nearing

This Tuesday we go get our cast off again . This will be our third cast. Jerry is able to stand and walk in a strange fashion now. He seems very comfortable in them .This one was red and green . He is going to see the doctor the day we arrive after xray

Got our second set of cast last week. We got the removed on Monday and put back on Friday morning. No weight bearing the whole time though . Maybe next time . Jerry had a little trouble with his knees but all was good by the end of the week. Tom Tapp is his PT he is a wonderful guy .He works well with Jerry.

week five

We are begining week six.The last five weeks have been quite a challenge for Jerry but he can now get out of his bed by himself and this morning he came into the living room with out yelling for my help. He usually lays there till I go and carry him to the restroom then goes straight back . But I usually keep a light on for him last night I did not . I was in living room when i heard him scooting down the hall. he slides along the floor on his butt. He is going to school and can make it through door ways he could not befor . He has learned to cock the cast to make his way thru places that he was spread to wide to fit in befor. He got out of the wheel chair last week at school .He is not comfortable enough to get out in his regular classroom .We will work on that this week . Sunday we will be leaving to go back to Lexington for recasting. Our first six weeks will be behind us . It is rough but not as bad as it seemed .I am glad he is back in school I think he would be so bored at home . He is working on Legos and coloring everyday .Star Wars is a favorit thing he does to . Well off to warm up the car for the ride to school it is cold outsdie. ...

Today we are starting our fifth week in casting. Jerry is back at school and it is quite a challenge. He had to change school for the rest of this year. We go to shrinrs hospital in Lexingon Ky. They are wonderful people who care about the kids. This journey began for us nearly five years ago. we are expected to get the casting off for good in April . So its going to be a long winter .
